Handcrafted Ramie Hammock – Tho People, Vietnam
Made by hand, used for generations.
These traditional hammocks are handcrafted by artisans from the Tho ethnic community in Nghe An, Vietnam, using fibers from the locally grown Ramie plant. Each hammock takes 15 to 30 days to complete, woven by two skilled craftsmen working together.
Dimensions:
- Length: approx. 240 cm (~94.5″)
- Width: approx. 130 cm (~51.2″)
- Material: 100% natural Ramie fiber (no dye, no chemical treatment)
- Color: Natural brown – the true color of sun-dried and hand-spun Ramie bark
These hammocks are known for their breathability, strength, and comfort. The weaving technique used has been passed down through generations, preserving both function and tradition.
After harvesting, the Ramie bark is stripped, cleaned, and naturally processed. The fiber is then hand-twisted into rope and woven into hammocks – with no industrial dyeing, no bleach, and no synthetic additives.
